Reading and writing are essential skills that form the backbone of effective communication and academic success. In our course “Reading & Writing,” students are introduced to techniques that improve their ability to read critically and write effectively. The course covers:
- Identifying Main Ideas and Topic Sentences: Developing the ability to discern the central point of a text.
- Skimming and Scanning: Techniques for quick reading to gather surface-level understanding or specific information.
- Using Cohesive Devices: Learning tools for connecting sentences and paragraphs smoothly.
- Distinguishing Fact from Opinion: Critical thinking skills to evaluate the information.
- Grammar in Practice: Using parts of speech, tenses, voice, and modals effectively in writing.
- Writing Structure: From sentence construction to paragraph writing and summary skills, students learn to craft clear and coherent texts.
